RDW CONFIRMS CHAPTER 11 PLAN FOR WAVIEN, INC. -- The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California confirmed the Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization of Wavien, Inc., its parent company Wavien Holdings, Inc., and affiliate Laser Media, Inc., on December 19, 2003. Philip A. Gasteier, Timothy J. Yoo, and Carmela Tan represented the debtor companies on behalf of RDW.
Santa Clarita, California based Wavien, Inc. owns, develops and licenses advanced lighting technology with applications in the projection television, entertainment and architectural lighting markets. RDW filed chapter 11 petitions for the companies in November 2002, and also successfully represented Wavien during the chapter 11 case in connection with litigation regarding ownership of certain patents. Pursuant to the Court-approved Plan, the debtors were relieved of in excess of $90 Million in debt. Creditors elected to receive either newly issued stock in the parent company, or a small amount of cash in satisfaction of their claims. The Plan became effective as of December 31, 2003. Wavien is now operating out of Chapter 11 under exit financing approved in connection with the Plan.
