Lawrence A. Diamant is a member of the Firm. He has extensive experience in
the successful negotiation of debt restructuring/work-outs and has had lead
responsibility for representing all types of significant constituencies in
numerous chapter 11 reorganization cases. As a recognized leader of the Los
Angeles bankruptcy bar, in which he excelled in various elective capacities, he
has served as a bankruptcy trustee, expert witness and consultant. His
experience as a chapter 11 reorganization trustee offers clients the invaluable
added dimension of business experience in the complex reorganization process.
Lawrence was born January 3, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey.
Significant Representations
- Primary responsibility for the representation of the Waterfront Hilton
Beach Resort in its successful chapter 11 case where he achieved the
restructuring of more than $59 million of secured debt to a manageable $18
million debt instrument which has proven eminently manageable for the now
successful hotel.
- Lead counsel in the reorganization of Qintex Entertainment wherein
over $60 million was generated for creditors through aggressive and
innovative legal action including achievement of the successful $40 million
sale of the Hal Roach film library.
- Lead counsel to the unsecured creditors committee in the House of
Fabrics chapter 11 case where he spearheaded efforts to revitalize and
restructure the operations and debt of the struggling 600-store retail
fabric chain. The reorganized company emerged from bankruptcy with an
independent board of directors selected by the creditors and with creditor
ownership of 93% of the stock of the company.
- Representing the interests of secured lenders, he successfully defeated
the Debtor's reorganization plan in the Helionetics chapter 11 case
and thereafter achieved confirmation of an alternative plan acceptable to
and supported by his constituents.
